Jeremy M. Usher
Founder, Creative Director
One of very few Creative Directors liable to scribble differential equations on his artwork when no one is looking - Jeremy Usher pursued degrees in Mathematics and Philosophy before turning his attention to New Media in the late-nineties.
An expert in the fields of digital imaging and multimedia design, Jeremy has offered successful workshops in Europe and North America outlining the use of technologies like Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Flash, and XHTML.
Looking to transform the free-roaming success of his design business into a regional presence in Northern New England, Jeremy launched the full-service media house Firefly, LLC in February 2004.
A firm believer in interdisciplinary mental aerobics, Jeremy continues to visit his original fascination with vector spaces, line integrals, and transcendental numbers by teaching Mathematics for the Upward Bound Program at the University of Maine.
In 2006, Jeremy was appointed to the Maine School of Science and Mathematics Board of Trustees by Governor John Baldacci and the 122nd Maine Leglislature.
Jeremy, son James, daughter Isobel, and wife Merideth make their home in Dresden, Maine.
Ryan M. Shepheard
Director of Sound and Motion Services
Multitalented to the last, Principal Ryan Shepheard can out-duel the fastest video editor on the block, direct his own production, and vocalize all but one of Frank Oz's characters (darn that Sam the Eagle), all before his morning chai.
Firefly's resident sound and video wizard, Ryan first landed in the film business when he convinced Stephen King to fund his high school video production at the Maine School of Science and Mathematics.
A master of software like Final Cut Pro, Pro Tools, and Premiere, Ryan has distinguished himself in recent years by editing national documentaries for the History Channel and others.
Ryan, and fiancée Amanda live in Portland, Maine.
Jonathon L. Duckworth
Director of Technical Services
A one man cavalcade of technical knowhow, it's rumored that Principal Jon Duckworth dreams in syntax colored Python. An authority on countless programming languages, protocols, and operating systems, Jon is Firefly's antidote to computer mayhem.
A computing prodigy since he was young, Jon also maintains expertise in biology and anthropology: enhancing Firefly's ability to tackle sophisticated technical publications and interactive guides.
Jon makes his residence in Dresden, Maine.
