Eminger Berries of Auburn, Maine is a luxury dessert maker renowned for Chef Susan Eminger's patented stuffed chocolate strawberries. Susan's celebrated culinary expertise has been featured at the 1996 Olympic reception and on the Today Show.

As a new business, Eminger Berries required a comprehensive set of design and programming services to craft a highly effective e-commerce website. By analyzing Susan's responses to the Firefly requirements analysis document, we were able to choose a color scheme and layout that suited the company's image while creating a custom shopping cart system built from the ground up to allow users to seamlessly navigate berries for purchase and add them to boxes of differing size within their shopping cart.

A custom content-management system allows Susan to add, delete and modify any information on the website with ease - including berry pricing, images, and specials.

By abstracting content-from presentation using a combination of XHTML/CSS and database technology, we are able to ensure that emingerberries.com will be easy to maintain far into the future.

This project featured an exciting convergence of a sophisticated product with a young, well-paid, and tech-savvy demographic: the ideal mixture for producing a website with rich media capabilities. Seeking to produce a site with robust technical features and a striking pixel-perfect interface, the choice was made to employ a triumvirate of Macromedia Flash, PHP, and MySQL to deliver site content.

Firefly was responsible for all elements of site design and implementation. Duties include extensive art direction, programming, and photography coupled with moderate copy generation and video editing.

As a large company with rapidly changing inventory, Fall River Florist Supply approached Firefly looking to build a highly dynamic web presence that they could maintain themselves. Firefly answered with a robust multi-tier system utilizing PHP and MySQL to drive a powerful custom content management system allowing Fall River employees to add, modify and remove both products and product categories. Additionally, all site text is available to the client for easy editing through an email-like interface. These systems are augmented by a client-authenticantion system that customizes the user-experience for Fall River customers who have been given a login to the site.

Firefly also provided photographic services and hosting for this project.

R.D. Allen Jewelers of Freeport, Maine are a premiere tourmaline jeweler who have garnered thousands of carats of the famous 'Maine State Gem,' in their nearly 20 years of operation.

Located on Main Street in Freeport, the R.D. Allen store is a frequent attraction for tourists and natives alike.

R.D. Allen approached Firefly to create an online system for displaying the many finely crafted and unique rings, pendants and earrings that are for sale at their Freeport location.

To allow for their quickly changing inventory, Firefly developed a custom content-management solution where R.D. Allen can swiftly upload new product information to the public viewable site.

This site was implemented utilizing PHP, MySQL, XHTML and Flash.

Kaler's came to Firefly looking to rejuvenate their web presence. Using modern design practices, Firefly crafted a unique website to showcase Kaler's restaurant and menu while providing a design that can be easily updated by a Kaler's staff member.

The site's clean XHTML based infrastructure has earned it many top-ten rankings for relevant terms on Google, Yahoo! and MSN.

Jane Dahmen is a renowned and prolific artist now living and painting in Newcastle, Maine.

Jane's paintings have been part of group shows at the Portland Museum, Maine, Boston City Hall, Boston Symphony Hall, the Kennedy Library, the World Trade Center in Boston, Cambridge Art Association, the Federal Reserve Bank, MPG Gallery, Boston as well as other galleries and businesses in the New England area. Three of Dahmen¹s paintings were part of a two year exhibition at the US embassy in Sarajevo, organized by US Ambassador to Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Clifford G. Bond.

Corporations in Boston, New York and other cities own her work as well as many private collectors across the country. George H.W. Bush hung one of Dahmen¹s Maine landscapes in the White House during his term in office and took it with him to Texas when he left Washington D.C.

As a prolific artist, Jane Dahmen came to Firefly requiring regular updates to her gallery showings and portfolio. Using custom programming and a highly intuitive interface, Firefly was able to convert Jane's existing site to a streamlined XHTML site with database support - allowing Jane to easily update the site herself.

To better showcase Jane's work, increase site usability, and optimize for search engines, a simple and elegant new homepage was developed to feature a number of portfolio items and show listings.

The 2003 Aegis renovation brought a stunning new graphical interface to the company website while vastly improving navigation systems. Database driven interactivity was also implemented to allow Aegis staff to manage news items and testimonials.

Foreign language versions of the site were launched later in the year for Aegis Deutschland and Aegis Iberica. All sites will be available on Firefly's local servers in the near future.

In 2002, Firefly launched two websites for Aegis, providing high-end flash interactivity and motion graphics for broadband users and a HTML option for those with a slower connection. Pictured above is a screenshot of the 2002 Lo-Fi offering. Both sites were relaunched in foreign language versions in 2003, for Aegis Italia.
